Center of Excellence in EU Studies (CEEUS), ADA University and ADA Foundation in cooperation with European Union Delegation to Baku, Temiz Sheher and Suez organized the ADA- EU Summer Camp at ADA University on July 3-28, 2017. The Camp was thematically divided into 4 weeks: “Theatre and Art”, “The world around us”, “Photography and Media” and “Heritage Village”. Aimed to educate the Azerbaijani youth about Europe, the camp content included history and facts about Europe and drew similarities between Azerbaijani and European cultures.
This Summer Camp gave more than 160 schoolchildren a unique opportunity to expand their knowledge and world outlook, to develop their logical and critical thinking skills, to demonstrate their talents as well as make new friends in a friendly and intellectually engaging environment. Participants learned, particularly, about the European Union history and environmental norms, the British writers and the European explorers, famous movie directors and small country EU member states. During lessons they dwelled into Ancient Greek mythology, old European Painters and European inventions. One of the most exciting sessions were a walking tour around the Old City, taking a stab at the painting style of the European painters in a drawing session, visiting museums ‘From waste to art’ and ‘Nobel Brothers’. In “Photography and Media” week they saw a first hand news production by visiting Public TV and ASAN Radio channels. Camp participants also learned beginning French, German, Spanish and Italian.
